Skill Level Legend

Beginner (Level 1)
Players who are new to hockey with little to no prior experience.

Characteristics

  • Learning basic skating techniques.
  • Developing fundamental puck-handling skills.
  • Limited understanding of game rules and positions.
  • Requires guidance and coaching to improve.

Novice (Level 2)
Players with some basic understanding and minimal experience.

Characteristics

  • Can skate forwards and backwards with basic control.
  • Beginning to execute simple passes and shots.
  • Understands basic rules but may need occasional reminders.
  • Starting to learn team dynamics and positioning.

Intermediate (Level 3)
Players with moderate experience and developing skills.

Characteristics

  • Good skating ability, including stops and turns.
  • Capable of accurate passing and shooting under low pressure.
  • Understands game strategies and team play concepts.
  • Can consistently maintain position and fulfill role responsibilities.

Advanced (Level 4)
Skilled players with significant experience.

Characteristics

  • Strong skating skills with agility and speed.
  • Executes precise passes and powerful shots even under pressure.
  • Deep understanding of advanced tactics and strategies.
  • Demonstrates leadership and can mentor less experienced teammates.

Expert (Level 5)
Highly skilled players, possibly with competitive or semi-professional experience.

Characteristics

  • Exceptional skating, including advanced maneuvers.
  • Excellent puck control and game awareness.
  • Anticipates plays and reacts quickly to game developments.
  • Often serves as a key player in critical game situations.
